We’re on the Twins under as the free play of the day. Luis Castillo gets the ball as the Mariners ace has been on the wrong end of some unfortunate lack of run support. He’s pitched well, but the offense for the Mariners has just been far too inconsistent this season. That bodes well for Minnesota starter Simeon Woods Richardson, who has scattered just 4 runs over his 3 outings. Both starting pitchers will have success and it’ll lead to scoring chances coming at a premium.

The Mets and the Cards battle it out on Monday in the series opener and we’re on the over here. The Mets were swept away in Tampa Bay despite scoring 15 runs over the 3 games. The woes of the pitching staff continue and that plays into this over here. Sean Manaea gets the ball here and he  has had a decent start to his season. He’s a contact pitcher and this Cards lineup should really make him work on this matchup. Expect them to put a lot of traffic on the bases and have him laboring from the outset. Kyle Gibson counters and he recovered from a tough start to the season. While he’s pitching well he’s still not an overpowering starter and the Mets offense is still coming up with some timely hits and putting runs across the board. This should be the kind of game where both teams have their chances and we’ll see some runs come across early.

Florida vs Boston Over 5.5

Game 1 between the Panthers and Bruins should produce a lot of fireworks. We’re seeing oddsmakers reduce these NHL totals as most of these games are being played very tightly. However, the Panthers did not follow that trend as all of their games were wide open against the Lightning. The Panthers tallied 20 goals across the five games they played in the opening round as they featured end to end action constantly. This series is going to feature two offenses that can attack and have the playmakers to find the back of the net. Boston and Toronto played to some lower scoring games as the series went on, but with this being a Game 1, both teams won’t be shy about being aggressive. Expect plenty of shots on goal both ways and for these two teams to open up the attacking early. With that in mind, this is a good number on the total where the value sits on the Over.

Monday 8* NHL O/U Play

Wolves +5.5

The Timberwolves are worth a move in Game 2 as they come in with all the momentum right now. Minnesota took Game 1 and they showcased they aren’t afraid of going right at this Nuggets side. They have won 4 of 5 from Denver this season and their ability to slow down Jokic is the biggest key. The big Denver center even acknowledged after the game that the Minnesota bigs wore him down in Game 1 and that isn’t a good sign for Denver moving forward. Minnesota not only has the scorers, but they also have the playmakers defensively to slow down Denver. This is a matchup that actually favors them and they’re right there with this Denver attack. This is a lot of points in a game where all the pressure sits on Denver right now. There’s good value on Minnesota, who can even steal this one outright again.
